Hi Everyone,
Not sure if anyone is still with me as my health issues keep me at a minimum crafting level. I try and try to keep crafts in my life and do manage to get into the craftspace here and there. I must say the space is a mess and I say everyday I am getting in there to clean up and organize. Well, that just never happens! My general health is not great and the month of February was not kind to me. I ended up in the hospital twice. The first time for four days and the second time for six days. Amazing how the Doctors and Nurses can bring you back to life. Okay enough of the cancer drag and onto the thousand dollars. A friend at work son is getting married. Yeah, I so love a happy occasion. My friend Cindy asked if I ever made a money cake as she wanted to give them one at the bridal shower. I told her "No, only diaper cakes". After a bit of research I thought the money cake looked like an easy and fun project. I must say I was a tad nervous when I fell ill as I had $1,000.00 of Cindy's money in my house. It all worked out as I worked on it a little at a time over the course of 2 weeks or so. I think I spent about 3 hours total time on the assembly of the cake and the project got me out of my sick bed and into the craftspace (A huge thanks to Cindy). So let me start by saying I had to put my own spin on the cake. I started with figuring out the money. I use my CraftArtist2 software to create the 3 tiers of the cakebase (which are 10", 8", and 6") I then created 3/4 inch circles to go around the base circle placing them in a format of bills that added up to $1,000.00 dollars. This template was great as my friend could clearly see the bills she needed to get from the bank. My research showed that most people roll the bill and secure them with small rubber bands. Not me as usual because I wanted all the rolled bills to be the same size. I had an idea to create 3/4"X1/2" tubes out of the candy bags I use for Hershey nugget crafts and it worked like a charm. I simply used my wood burning tool to divide and seal the bag and then cut that strip into 1/2 " lengths with a pair of scissors. Worked great and all the rolls were the same size. If you look close in this picture you can see them centered on the bill.
The best part is when the cake is given to the Bride, all she has to do is pull up on the roll to get the money. No need to disassemble anything. Following the template I used glue dots placed on the plastic sleeves to create the strip of bills and then glue dots to attach the strips to the base. No glue dots touch the money only the plastic sleeve. I left open spaces for decorative elements. This worked out perfect to keep the bills centered and organized. Again the template was worth taking the time to make. Here is a picture of one of the die cuts used to fill the spaces:
Here is a close up of the topper:
Lots of ribbon on the cake make it pretty:
And here is the finished cake ready to go:
I really did enjoy this project. I used my CraftArtist2 software along with my Brother Scan N Cut to make the die cuts. I want to thank my friend Cindy for inspiring me to get up and get moving. I also want Cindy to know that I always feel just a bit a part of the wedding and the family when something I made appears at the shower or the wedding. I am truly blessed to have peeps that still think of me as more than a person who is ill and do their best to help me to keep on keeping on. Much love and blessings to the happy couple for a wonderful wedding and long life together. Thanks for stopping by,
Lysa

Mets Themed Baby Shower - The End!
Hi Everyone,
I am going to keep this as short and sweet as possible. Oh my, I am so glad these favors are done. Not because I didn't enjoy making them, but because my Stampin Up holiday order arrived and I did not want to open the box until the favor boxes were done. I have more pictures than words so lets get on with that. When I last posted I had made the 80 box bases. There was still so much more to do. I started by prepping the tops. I cut and scored clear plastic sheets for the lids. They came out great but I did not take a picture of them. No good photo will come from clear plastic. Next up was the belly bands for the box. Oh my lord why would I even think of deckle cutting these strips. Math time peeps, each box required 2 strips so then the deckle edge required 2 cuts, which then equals 4 passes through the trimmer per box - times 80 is (HELLO PAIN) 320 passes through the paper trimmer. Thought my arm was going to fall off! Here is a picture:
I did have some printing issues as well but I am back on the road with my new Canon laser printer. No need to get into the whole ugly story. All the graphics were done with Serif CraftArtist2.
Pretty in groups of 20! now to get them on the box. That was easy, just took an amazing amount of tape runner from my Scotch ATG gun. Once done it was on to the tags. Back to the computer and printer we go.
And of course they need to get punched . . .
And backed with SU Night of Navy . . .
So that it would all end up looking like this . . .
Boxes ready to be filled, bowed and tagged! They came out great and I am told the boxes will be filled with cookies that are shaped like a bat, baseball, baseball glove and baseball cap. I think they will look just Grand Slam at the shower. I will leave you with this last picture of my SU Holiday Haul . . . Crafty Goodness is on the way for sure.

Crib Explosion Box
Hi Everyone,
I took a break from wedding things to make this explosion box for a co-working who is having a baby. I had so much fun making this box that I just had to share it with you all. First I have to say I was under a bit of pressure to get it done as I was asked late in the game to make a card that would hold the gift card we were giving her. Well I spent just about the entire weekend in the craftroom making it. But I have to say I think it was because of the theme. I just don't have a lot of "baby" themed graphics and papers kicking around in my craftspace. I had said to the family if I needed to make a Christmas or Halloween themed explosion box I could have banged it out quickly. I had spent so much time looking for graphics and making the crib that the whole thing got away from me. In the end it was worth the effort because it came out awesome and my all my co-workers were excited to give the new Mom her gift card. First I have to show you a picture of my desk as I was making it. This was my first so you know the paper scraps were flying! I even posted this on my facebook page. Here is the pic:
WHAT a mess!!! But then it all started to come together around that adorable 3-D crib that is perfectly sized to hold a gift card. Here are the pictures that I took and while they are not the best I am sure you will get the idea of how the box came out.
Wow, Do you love it too?? I knew I was pressed for time and searched for a crib file online but they were all for sale and I thought I could make one fairly easy just by looking at a picture. I saw some really pretty ones for sale but I thought if I kept it simple I would be able to create it quickly. I used my CAP2 software to make the file and exported it as a pdf so that I could use my ZING and MTC to cut it. Well all went well and I thought I would share the file with you all. Here is a picture of the pdf file:
So cute! If you want to try to make the crib you can fine the pdf file here:
http://www.mediafire.com/view/hkr6ldzmvlx3weh/crib_to_post.pdf
and as always for my MTC peeps you can download the file here:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/wc8788k344oev2l/crib_by_lysa_and_huey_to_post.mtc
If any of you have any questions just leave me a comment and I will do my best to help. I really love this explosion box card and will make more in the future. I am already thinking a wedding one would be fun to create. I could just see a wedding cake in the center. Thanks for visiting and PLEASE enjoy the file and consider leaving me a comment, I so love to share files and comments inspire me to share more.

Back, But Never Really Left
Hi Crafty Friends,
WOW, how long between posts? Too long!! First a quick catch up . . . spring cleaning, end of school year, heavy work load and knee surgery too. No need for the details on any of that. Simply put life has caught up with me for sure!! Through it all I have been crafting and gathering ideas. Wedding ideas! How is it that when a wedding is a year and a half out, one becomes obsessed with all things wedding. So I have one daughter and while I have never been a party planner type, I have resigned myself to the fact that I want it all to be perfect. I have looked at favor ideas on pinterest, etsy, ebay and every wedding site on the net. I have purchased paper samples, favor samples, you name it I have already researched it. I am now done! The wedding is a year and a half away and it's time to rein myself back into reality. Now with that said I am starting with the most simple reception item I can think of. The seating cards. You know, when you get to the venue the little card that tells you what table you are seated at. If you dare go ahead and google the phrase "wedding placecard holder ideas". REALLY, there is like hundreds of ideas that would run from cheap to crazy expensive. So my job as Mom of the Bride was to find the one we could afford, I could make, and the one that would fit the moment. Come on peeps!, have some faith, I found it. and we love it!!! The venue where the wedding receptions is to be held has an awesome black grand piano at the top the this great staircase. That is where the venue puts the seating cards. So the guests come up the steps and the first thing they see is this beautiful piano. After much research and some trial and error, Sam and I thought some form of candlelight on the piano would be awesome, so why not incorporate candlelight and the place card together. The venue would not allow for wax candles so we knew going in that battery operated tea lights would be our best and only option. I saw on google images some great tea light holders using them. I ran (yes, ran . . . operated knee and all) down to the kitchen drawer where all my votive holders are and grabbed a plain 2-1/5 inch tall glass votive holder and got to work. I used CraftArtist2 to create the vellum wrap for the holder. I printed the label on my Canon laser printer and foiled the label with silver foil that I bought from MyBindingCo.com. (for an awesome price, I might add) and I use my laminator to foil the label. Wow! I can just see 60 or so of these sitting on top of the piano. I think the best part will be that everyone will bring these to the table so there will be additional candlelight on every table during the reception. I have pictures and I only wish it was a picture of all of them, but for that you will need to come back and visit around November of 2016! If you have any questions on how I created the template let me know. Here are the best pics I could get:
I promise I will add a pic of them all at some point. In the meantime, my next quest will be the bubbles. Gotta have bubbles at the church for sure! I can't even begin to talk about the favors for the wedding and for the shower. We surely have become "go big or go home"! So much for the budget, oh well, only one daughter so I guess I am going BIG!!
Thanks for stopping by,

Big News about A Big Day!
Hi Everyone,
I can't believe that I lost touch with my blog for a whole month. This seems to happen every spring as I take on spring cleaning, room decor switch and pool opening. Now that I have things somewhat in order I am back in the craftroom and ready to go. My big news about a big day is that my Daughter and her fiance Leon have set a wedding date. Booked the Church and the venue as well. I have signed on to assist with some crafty goodness. We have plenty of time but we have started getting some things together. The invitation mock up is done. The colors are still in the air until we get out to the stores or online for paper samples. Looks like Black, White and Stampin Up's Cherry Cobbler are in the lead. The Cherry Cobbler may be switched out for a merlot or burgundy. We just won't know till we sample some papers. I made a logo for them. Which now adorns the rear window of her car. I cut it in vinyl and it looks great. Here is a pic:
So reflective you really can't see how nice it looks. Here is a picture of the graphic:
I plan to make a rubber stamp and an embossing folder of the logo. The double hearts are an Inkadinkadoo stamp that is still available for purchase. I will buy that as well. The font is chaucer and is the same as my blog header. It has been a favorite of mine for years. I made this logo using CAP2 and cut the vinyl using SCAL4 and my KnK ZING. Sam really likes the logo and I think we will switch it up here and there keeping the linked hearts as a running theme. Well that's about it for now. I will keep you all posted on the wedding crafts as they appear on my craft desk. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend,
Lysa

Valentine's For School 2015 - What To Do, What To Do!
Hi Friends,
One week before Valentine's Day and I haven't even thought of what I am bringing in for the work peeps. More important than that was what is Rory going to do for school. Now that brings in a whole new question. New school, now Middle School, should I, should I not? That was the question asked by the little one. Still young and wanting to make any occasion fun, but savvy enough to not want to appear a bit corny. Well, Nonna has the answer and here it is: "To thine own self be true, and be like all good Girl Scouts and be prepared." I suggested that we make a nice Valentine treat that would fit in her backpack. She would be prepared and if she felt uncomfortable handing them out, well in the backpack they would stay. No harm, No foul! The best of both sides of a story if you ask me. Gee, I am getting wise as I push 60! So we chose some Valentine's themed pencils from Walgreens and a Dove chocolate heart. We chose a push pencil and Dove chocolate as perhaps they are just a bit more appealing to the "more mature audience" that we are making them for. No Monster High or Spiderman involved (It's the Dove chocolate heart that steps it up)! I really do think Middle School is on the tough side, but hey if you make it through you can most likely survive whatever life throws at you. So here are a few pics of this easy peasy favor that should please anyone. In fact I just may be making these for work as well. After all who doesn't need a pencil?
I made the page of tags using CAP2 and we punched them out with the Stampin' Up heart punch. I used my ZING and MTC to cut the shadow heart. The cello bags are from Stampin' Up. The white rubber bands are Rainbow Loom. I use those bands for all sorts of things!
Here they are in a vase by the front door until she takes them to school. Let's hope not to many peeps stop by for a visit because who could resist saying "help yourself"!
So easy, all we did was bag up the pencil and trim the bag to about 1.5 inches above the top of the pencil. Grabbed a chocolate heart and wrapped it in a 5 inch square of white tulle and secured it to the pencil bag with a white rubber band. We punched a 1/8 inch hold in the tag and made an angle cut into the hole and stretched the rubber band to lock the tag on. They came out great. We made 16 in about 40 minutes or so. Here is one more picture:
I hope Rory ends up passing these out but worst comes to worst we will have a few extra pencils in the house and some darn good chocolate too!

Wine Charms! I'll Be Making Lots Of These!
Hi Everyone,
Just a quick post before I have to hit the kitchen and start to get ready for "the BIG game" Yes, it is Superbowl and I should have been getting ready hours ago. I am glued to the Kitten Bowl on the Hallmark Channel and while I have been up here in the craftspace all the others in the house have been getting ready for the game. So to be quick I want to tell you that I just can't stop buying charms, yup, they are rolling in for summer themed bracelets. Now I have been buying most of the charms on etsy and loving all of them. Some I bought were just a bit to big for bracelets. I sit with a ruler by my side and still I just can't get a true handle on the size. I loved the look of this one crab that I bought but no way could he sit on a wrist. So enter the wine charm. I also bought some sand dollars that were a bit big as well. I know I should be focused on Valentine's Day but I have been buying summer themed charms and as it happens we are going on a family reunion vacation this year at the Jersey Shore. With snow on the ground and all these awesome summer charms helping me to keep sunny thoughts I made quick work to make a favor to bring this summer. Not only that, I have so many friends with summer places at the shore that this will be an AWESOME little gifty to send them. It took me about 5 minutes to make the wine charms and then about 5 hours to come up with the packaging. So silly on my part, I had an idea in my mine and just could not bring it to light. Here is a picture of the charms, so quick and easy with pre-made wine charm rings that I got from Bohemian Findings via ETSY(SHOUT OUT! I will post their link at the bottom) I had some blue and white beads in my stash from somewhere ???
OMG.... the pic just does not show how great they look! But they do look fantastic . . . and now they need a package. I made myself some digi paper using Stampin Up Pacific Point and a some SU stamp graphics. I did have a hard time deciding how to arrange them on cardstock. In the end I used my We R MemoryKeepers Chinch to punch holes to hang the charms from. Here is a pic of that action:
I cut the printed cardstock to 6.5 inches by 2.25 and the Cinch cut the holes perfectly. I took a my SU paper snips and cut a slit on the angle into each hole. This worked great to hold each charm in place. Now I needed a celo bag to bag them up. I saw the new "WeRMemoryKeepers" photo fuse tool and I thought why can't I just use a metal ruler and my Tulip rhinestone setter to make my bag? So I grabbed a scrapbook page protector and a metal ruler and it worked great. I added a graphic topper and here is what you get:
How great does that look, but wait here is the back:
I love these little favors and like the label says, Shore to Please!! I used CraftArtist2 for all the printing and the cardstock is SU Pacific Point and Whisper White. Here is the link to the ETSY shop for Bohemian Findings:
https://www.etsy.com/shop/BohemianFindings?ref=shopsection_shophome_leftnav
I love their stuff!!!!!! I just can't wait to order more charming fun!
I can't wait to give out these wine charms to my peeps, I think they are going to be a huge hit!
Enjoy the BIG GAME and hopefully I will be back soon with this years Valentine's favor
Thanks for stopping by,

OMG.... the pic just does not show how great they look!
Thanks for stopping by,
Lysa

Lip Balm Holder for Halloween 2014
Hi Everyone,
I am so happy to say my final Halloween favors are done. As you know my most favorite non candy favors are made with AVON products. I love their lip balms and hand creams for crafting. I am almost always able to purchase them for .79 cents or so. I also like to buy from AVON as I have a co-worker who is an AVON lady and I would much rather support her than Dollar Tree. I used CraftArtistist2 to design the file and I used my Zing and MTC software to cut them out. The pumpkin and bat are Martha Stewart punches that I have had for years. Don't you just love when you spend money on something and you use it for years! I also printed all the paper using Stampin' Up digital files. I buy all my favorite papers as digi files because as you know once they retire they are gone. The pumpkin paper is from the "Cast A Spell" DSP line from back in either '09 or maybe '10. I still use it all the time because I love it so much. Here is a picture of the pdf file share for these quick and easy favors:
You can find the PDF file here at this link:

and the MTC file can be found using this link:

Here is a picture of the lip balm holders and whats left of the little jack o' lantern boxes waiting to be handed out at work next week:
So to sum up Halloween 2014, I think my favorite favor was the beaded spider. I made so many of them and could have kept going if I had more peeps that I wanted to give them to. He may resurface this Christmas as "The Christmas Spider" from the Ukrainian legend. Next week I will be on vacation from work for a few days and all the Halloween paper gets put away and out comes all the Christmas craft supplies. I can't wait for this years Christmas crafting season as I bought some great Stampin' Up paper and supplies. They did a lot with Kraft paper and boxes this year. Kraft is my all time favorite for Christmas. Thanks for pit stopping my blog and I hope to see you again soon. Enjoy Halloween!!

Halloween Is In The House!
Hi Everyone,
The past week has been so crazy busy that I barely had time to play in the craft room. The whole living room and dining room are glowing in black and orange and we are totally ready for Halloween. Rory and I made a new banner for the mantle way back in September. It was the last day of summer vacation and I have had it hanging off the china cabinet since then. It looked so silly amongst the summer patriotic decorations. I am sure everyone who stopped by thought I was a bit off my rocker. I did have a hard time getting good pictures (as usual) but I thought I would post them anyway. I think Rory and I did a great job. Here is the picture:
Well, that is really a better picture of Rory than the banner! Maybe this one is a bit better:
and here is a close up of the letter S, I was glad I could catch a bit of the gold sparkle:
So here is our crafty recipe: The banner base pieces are from the Stampin Up banner kit called chalkboard. The DSP layer is from SU's cast a spell from years ago. I have the digital file so we printed the paper using CraftArtistPro2. The stars and the medallions were also made and printed with CAP2 and we used the Brother SnC to cut them out. I made so many of the stars and I still want to make more. The letters and shadows were cut with my Zing through make the cut. I love watching Rory use the computer and the die cutters. She really is a wiz with the Zing. If you look closely behind the letters you can see we added an embossed piece. We used our sizzix and a cuttlebug embossing folder of a web. Last but not least we even used my favorite Martha Stewart bat punch for the little bats. Each piece is sprayed with champagne mist so it sparkles. Wow, that's is a lot of product. But worth it for sure. We did not plan to hang this in front of the mirror but it was so long that this was the only place we could put it. So if I had to change one thing, I would have made sure that the backs of the pieces were black. I think that the chipboard reflection makes for an unfinished look. All in all we love how are banner came out. Today I have to finish some craft kits for Rory's friends that are coming over for a little celebration. The girls will be making the paper pumpkins that I made last year. We needed a quick and easy craft to do and this is perfect. Here is a peek at the project and the kits:
Don't the kits look great in the Stampin Up cases?? Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by,

Halloween 2014 Favor Box
Hi Friends,
Well don't you know Halloween is coming fast and furious. I could not believe when I got to work today and the first time I typed the date this morning I thought to myself "How the heck did we get to Sept. 17th!" Time is surely slipping past me. So this weekend I am taking down all the summer/patriotic decorations in the hope that I can get Halloween up the following weekend. I made my annual speech to the family about how I was going to scale it back. I say the same thing every year. "No bales of hay, Not taking out the Halloween dishes, Not going to put up the 5 foot twisted wire Dept. 56 tree . . . etc" and then every year I do the exact opposite and put up pretty much every single decoration I have. Well, that would be me. Say one thing and do the other. So today I have for you this years candy favor. I cased it from Stampin Up. You know they came out with the curvey keepsake die. Which I think is kind of a blast from the past as this little bon-bon box has been around forever and a day. I have it as a .gsd file from my Wishblade years! Now what got me was you have to cut it in 2 pieces. Which is great when you want to make it with 2 patterns. Plus it does save a bit on paper as you can cut it with half of a sheet of 12X12. My problem is I really don't like the way it goes together and it was just a bit to big for me. I have to make about 30 or so of these so I need to take candy cost in to consideration. As it is I went with Hershey Kisses instead of my normal Hershey Nuggets. I created the pattern where the base was 2 inches and it was huge so I shrunk it down to my liking. I used my CraftArtist2 to draw the box and exported it to a .pdf file so that I could cut it with my Zing using MTC. I saw these pumpkins all over Pinterest and thought they were so cute. I see SU peeps are making Frankie and Vampires and all sorts of cuties. I even saw a penguin. I loved them all and thought I would share my file with all of my digi cutting friends. Here is a picture of the pdf file:
For those of you who want the PDF you can find it here:
http://www.mediafire.com/view/8e9iqkb93h8a92z/bonbon_box_with_pic_2014.pdf
And the MTC file is here, I have included the faces and the leaves with the MTC file:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/vu58hx4v42c1y9x/curvey_box__share.mtc
I hope you like this file and I think at Christmas you can make some really cute boxes by adding a cut out window. If you need this box to be larger you can easily resize to your need. Hope to be back with a picture of Rory and my banner that we made in the next day or so. It came out great and I can't wait to see it hanging with all the other decorations. Please let me know if you have any problems with the file.

Skullys, Kittys and Tear Bears . . Oh My!
Hi Crafty Peeps,
Today is September 1st. How sad is it that summer is on it way out. Well I guess it is only sad for people like me who love the heat. Our August here in Jersey was a cool one so I didn't spend as much time in the pool as I would have liked. It was however a perfect August for outdoor activities. You can see by my lack of crafty blogging that I was at least enjoying the nice weather. I did manage to show Rory how to make a tear bear. In fact I made a second bear and a kitty. Rory chose a panda to make for her Mom. We had a lot of fun and she had an easy time so I can see why these little guys are a great craft for the kiddies. I will say I did tear the parts for Rory. I made each pattern piece 4 layers thick. Rory stacked and glued all her layers as well as assembled her bear. I think she really loved brushing it out with the wire brush. Rory even did all the shading on her panda. Being all the pieces were torn prior, Rory completed her panda in about 2 and half hours. I think she did an awesome job. Here are a couple of pictures:
I think you can tell Rory is pretty darn happy about the way her panda came out. Now me, I made a second bear just like the first one that I made for Rory. Here is my pic:
I really like making the brown bear. I wanted to make another but I need to buy more of the mocha colored paper. I did have some more of the black and white so I thought I would give a kitty a go. I tried to copy a picture of an assemble one that was posted on line. I have been using CAP2 to make my patterns. Here is a pic of my kitty. I want to make a witch's hat for him. I just haven't gotten to it yet.
I even stamped her up some tissue paper. My favorite part is my skully embishment. I printed the skulls with the 31 out on SU whisper white cardstock and then domed them with Lisa Pavelka magic gloss. Gee I just love that stuff. I use my Teresa Collins stampmaker UV light to cure it. I use the light to cure my gel nail polish too. In fact the only thing I don't use it for is to make Teresa Collins stamps - go figure! I can't wait to bring this ornament to Karen, I am pretty sure she is going to be thrilled! Tomorrow is the last day of summer vacation and I am staying home from work with Rory. Guess what we are doing! Yup, we are going to spend the day in the craftroom and we will be making our Halloween banner for 2014! I can't wait, I don't know who is more excited. OK, I think it's me! Hope you stop by again as I have some Halloween goodies coming up. Thanks for stopping by,
Lysa

He looks so sad with the big droopy eyes! And he is way to big, but I love how he came out. Don't you like his wire whiskers?
Now for the skully:
So back a few year Stampin' up had that awesome ornament on the cover of the holiday catalog. 2012 I believe it was. If you remember or look back on my blog you will see I was making them with a Halloween theme instead of a Christmas theme. I only made about 5 or so. I kept them all and use them around the house at Halloween. Well my friend Karen asked me if I would make one for her as she wanted to give it to her son. He is a dude who loves Halloween and he (like me) love skullys. She knew which one she wanted so I made it up for her this weekend. I even made a box for her. Here are a couple of pics, I should have taken some along the way but I didn't! Silly Rabbit, I am no kind of blogger. Here are the pics:
